Biography
The Filipino-American conductor was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music at Yale College and a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance at the Yale School of Music, studying with Erick Friedman. After working as a freelance violinist in Chicago, he continued his studies at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Hochschule for Music and Theater in Leipzig. Here he completed his Conducting Diploma under the guidance of GMD Prof. Gert Bahner.
In 2003, he received a Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship, where he participated in masterclasses with Kurt Masur, Christoph von Dohnanyi, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
Since 2004, Adiarte has been working in the Stuttgart area. Here he has assisted in several productions at the Junge Oper and the Forum Neues Musiktheater of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. In 2005, he conducted the world premiere of Hans Tutschkus “Die Süsse unsere traurigen Kindheit” with Ensemble Ascolta. In 2006, he assisted at the Staatsoper Stuttgart world-premiere production of Younghi Pagh-Paans opera “Mondschatten”.
A strong supporter of contemporary music, Adiarte has conducted concerts with the the New Fromm Players in Massachusetts, ensemble v.act and ensemble ascolta in Stuttgart, and ensemble gelberklang and Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt. As a performer and conductor, he has worked with Helmut Lachenmann, Mauricio Kagel, and performed many world premiere performances.
He has received scholarships from the International Ensemble Modern Academy, the Forum Neues Musiktheater of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Akademie Musiktheater heute supported by Deutsche Bank, and the Richard Wagner Society.
Currently, Alexander G. Adiarte is Choir Director of the Liederkranz Pflugfelden e.V. From 2004-2007 he was the Music Director of the TonArt Symphony Orchestra in Heidelberg. Since 2006, he has been the Music Director of the Leonberg Symphony Orchestra. Since 2007, he is the Orchestra Director of the Stuttgart Music School.
